Stay Hydrated On-The-Go: Review of 10 Electrolyte Stick Packs
As my kiddos attend all-day camps in the St. Louis summer heat, I purchased a few brands of electrolyte stick packs to add to their water bottles. Research shows that when water has flavor, kids are more likely to meet their hydration needs. I also found myself using them after morning runs. One of our purchases was the Liquid I.V. brand.
Curious as to why these sticks were so much more expensive compared to other options, I reviewed the nutrition facts panel to find that one stick had over 500 mg of sodium. No one in our house requires that level of sodium replacement considering the recommended daily amount for adults is 2,300 mg.
That led me to check out what else was out there. Hence my recent blog post comparing 10 popular brands. Not to spoil the ending, but I concluded we’re all better off making our own. But, that takes time! Stick pack powders are convenient!
